Digipak

After doing some extended research into cover design. We decided to change the idea of the digipak to go with a more Minimalist approach than before. By doing so we have a more professional looking product, yet it is still eye catching due to the colour scheme and the sharp, small images on the design.

Magazine Advert

Here is one of our drafts for the magazine advert that we have been editing on PhotoShop. The text is from the website Dafonts.com which we have to import to PhotoShop.

Here shows a variety of versions of digipak covers. We varied the text in each

Album Art

Here are screen shots showing Frankie's editing of the album cover. Currently, we are testing out different fonts from the website Dafont.com to see which look the best.

Survey Monkey

Here is an example of a survey monkey that our group constructed earlier in the year. The aim of the survey was to gain research on our potential audience by asking questions about music videos.

Photoshop Development

This post will demonstrate the development of the magazine advert on Photoshop.

Here is the original photo that I am going to develop.

I downloaded a selection of fonts from Dafonts.com, the most suitable font for our magazine advert, and the one that fitted the genre the best was 'Impact Label'.

Here is a rough example of what the text will look like on the magazine advert. On the real one, we are planning to put much more information on, and to make the image black and white.

Filming

Here is a photo of Ahmed setting up the camera, ready to film singer Daniel lip syncing to the song Fire + Bones by The Midight Heavy. We filmed Daniel singing the sog the whole way through from three different angles, close up, mid shot from the side and extreme close up. We will now edit the footage into the music video.

Magazine Advert

Helpful advice that we should remember whilst creating the magazine advert:

- Make sure all the relevant information is included.
The customer needs to know the event, the date any any other bonus information such as reviews or a website so this needs to be clearly advertised on our magazine advert.

- Find a software or technique to create the advertisment.
How we create the advert will depend on which medium we are using to advertise. Here are some basic ideas
  • If we are making a small scale print ad, such as a flyer or magazine advert, a good programme to use would be Adobe InDesign or Photoshop.
  • If we are making a video ad, try working with iMovie, Picasa or Windows Media Player.
  • For an audio ad, good programmes to use are Audacity or iTunes.
  • For a large scale advertisment, you would probably have to contact a print shop to get the work done.

Contingency Plan

Here is a screenshot of the contingency plan for our product and how we plan to deal with any problems that we may face.

Risk Assessment

Here is a assessment of the very few risks invovled in making our music video.

Key points to note regarding location

We were looking out for unusual or interesting backgrounds to use as the background which the singer will stand against.

Name and number of location contact:

We would contact Mr Johnson, our media studies teacher, if we encountered any problems or had any queries regarding the filming or editing of our video.

Health and Safety Issues to note:

Climbing over fences
- Slipping on muddy floors
- Using matches
- Carrying equipment on public transport
Potential Filming Problems :

- Not having enough shots for our video

Additional Notes:  (map of area/weather forecast etc)

The weather was similar to this on the days we filmed. We were lucky that the weather remained constant on the different days that we filmed.
